I know that not everyone is ready to hire a copywriter or outsource their copy.
It all depends on where you are with your offers and business.
But I want to make sure you have the tips and tools you need to write copy that POPS and speaks to your dream clients and customers if you’re DIYing it.
Because as a new business owner, I get it.
You can’t outsource everything at once.
So if you’re writing your own copy, here are mistakes you need to avoid to make it as powerful as possible.
That way, your sales pages, emails, and websites can sell for you on autopilot and you can keep growing your business while focusing on your zone of genius 🧠
Let’s dive in.
❌ Focusing on FEATURES instead of BENEFITS.
We’re obsessed with ourselves. We always want to know how a product or piece of information relates back to us. So when you’re writing copy, think about how your words and offer will help your client’s transformation, instead of just listing whatever it comes with.
That means to always remember to include BENEFITS ✅
Ex: Instead of saying ‘you’ll be added to a super cool and exclusive Facebook group,’ try ‘you’ll be able to ask questions and connect with like-minded artists in an exclusive Facebook Group.’
❌ Focusing on QUANTITY instead of QUALITY.
Writing more copy won’t help you sell more.
Now, long-form Sales Pages and Emails have their place and can be powerful BUT – every word counts.
So make sure you’re packing a punch with every sentence, instead of just hoping that if you write more words – people will magically want to invest in your offer.
Also remember that different people relate to information in a variety of ways. Some may prefer short and sweet while others love long and explanatory.
That’s why I try to add a variety to my content so that I can connect with buyers at all stages.
❌ Too Many Call-to-Actions (CTAs)
Every piece of copy you write should lead to ONE action you want the reader to take.
Just one.
BUY NOW, SUBSCRIBE, REGISTER NOW, JOIN – whatever it is – having a singular focus will make it easier for readers to take action with confidence and excitement.
So choose an action that is most in line with the content you’re writing and is the logical next step for a reader to take.
It’ll be a WIN WIN 🏆
