So how does a law school student turn into a full-time marketer & copywriter, in just 18 months? To be honest, I was a lost soul for years.

Throughout school, all I knew about myself professionally was I enjoyed reading, loved writing, and coming up with new ideas.

Growing up though, I only knew about the quote on quote “real jobs” like medicine, engineering, law, finance, etc. (Disclaimer: I have an immense amount of respect for professionals in those fields. I just chose a different route based on my skills and aspirations.) So becoming a ‘writer’ never really occurred to me.

Hi, there!

fun facts

I am a Bollywood addict. From singing along to songs in the car to binging my favorite movies on repeat, I am a sucker for a good romantic comedy with a catchy soundtrack.

I am a law school graduate! During college, I never really thought about what I wanted to do. I went to law school because I enjoyed reading and writing and didn’t know what other job would serve those skills - until I found marketing and copywriting.

I am a Certified Personal Trainer! I have gained and lost 60 pounds and got my certification to help others.

As a Pakistani American, I try to exercise my Urdu and Hindi speaking skills whenever I find a fellow South Asian.

If I’m in a bad mood, just get me a vegan chocolate chip cookie, a chilled Monster Energy drink, and a screen streaming Seinfeld, the Big Bang Theory, or Gossip Girl and I’ll be brand new.

Even though I work from home, I’m in love with wearing jewelry. If I’m not wearing a few rings, earrings, or a necklace - the apocalypse is probably nearby.

I am obsessed with learning about skincare and trying to make my routine bougie yet affordable. I know, the ultimate goal.

Because I enjoyed reading and writing, law school was the obvious choice. My friends and family, with the best of intentions, convinced me it was the best and only fit for me professionally and to maximize my chances of success.

I majored in law-friendly majors like History and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies. (I also threw in a Creative Writing minor to satisfy those creativity juices, ya know).

In the meantime, thanks to some serious weight issues, I became a Certified Personal Trainer and even ran a fitness account to help inspire South Asian women to care for their bodies. I grew that account to 10K before retiring it to focus on this business. (Fun Fact: I even thought I would do this work full-time).

I got into a 2-year, accelerated J.D. program and I went in full-force, convinced I would be a Bankruptcy attorney.

Now, I’m not a big believer in coincidences. So the fact that I didn’t get one of those highly-sought-after, coveted positions in a law firm despite hundreds of applications was definitely ‘not meant to be.’

I really wanted to want to be a lawyer - because it’s what everyone thought I would be great at. But once in law school, I realized that I wasn’t a good fit for the industry and there had to be something better.

While studying for the bar exam (which I did pass, who knows how), I applied to as many non-law jobs as I could, with a few legal ones sprinkled in, to see what else was out there.

(While procrastinating my studying with copious amounts of Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, & Gossip Girl, of course.

I eventually was offered two roles -

1. An analyst for a Bankruptcy firm and

2. A marketer to do a bit of everything for a 7-figure media and online course start-up.

I chose the latter, and everything started making sense.

I was thrown into the world of online marketing and all at once was learning about copywriting, social media marketing, email marketing, funnels, and more.

As I started learning more, the pieces were fitting together and unlike with law school, the strategies and concepts and execution came naturally to me. And I saw how much opportunity and abundance there was for professionals and self-starters to create their dream lives online.

I was incredibly grateful for that opportunity and decided to take my favorite part of my job - copywriting and marketing strategy - and refine my skills.

I started freelancing for entrepreneurs across different industries and realized I loved spreading my creative wings by writing for different businesses and helping them grow and reach more clients.

A year and a half later, when I knew I had learned everything I needed to from my job, I took a chance on myself and went full-time on my business to work with other entrepreneurs that aligned with my values and were launching irresistible offers to serve their dream clients.
